Hybrid Housing: A Contemporary Building Type for Multiple Residential & Business Use

// PART 01 Master Plan

Project Proposal

The proposed development is located on a very interesting part of the city fabric in Brownsville, TX. Around us, we find a mixture of residential and commercial developments. Main arteries of the city such as Highway 77 and Boca Chica Blvd become a direct connection/link to our site. For this reason, one can argue that it is possible to pose the idea of designing a HYBRID HOUSING DEVELOPMENT that includes not only residential, but a commercial component as part of the building program.

// PART 02 Typologies

Typology of hybrid housing:

“Typologies are created by grouping together and classifying objects of certain inherent structural similarities.This process is not intended to ignore or negate the unique properties of individual buildings, but to establish a typological scheme which emphasizes common forms and themes among individual buildings”.
